A school in Trowbridge will gain a new classroom building with a special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) resource base for 20 new SEND pupils.

Wiltshire Council has approved the planning application that proposed the new teaching block at The Grove Primary School, in the south of the county town.

The building will replace three temporary mobile classrooms and the car park will be extended to allow for six new staff to support the expansion.

The application stated: “The proposed new purpose-built classroom building will provide the school with the much-needed proper educational and working environments for the pupils and staff to benefit from.”

In other planning news, Wiltshire Council has approved refurbishment works including roof replacements at Hullavington Barracks, near Chippenham.

The installation of ground-mounted solar panels has been given the go-ahead on land adjacent to Arminger House in Kington Langley and at Pond Cottage in West Yatton.

Meanwhile, proposals for new equestrian stables have been approved on land opposite Rowden Farm in Bradford on Avon and at Southcroft in Worton.

Also this week, Wiltshire Council received an application that proposed the demolishment of a structure on Calcutt Farm, in Calcutt, and the conversion of the remaining buildings into six holiday lets.

The existing homes at Malt House in Chirton and 192 Norrington Gate in Broughton Gifford are set to be demolished and replaced with new dwellings.

The construction of a new home has also been approved in the rear garden of Willow Cottage in East Grafton, but refused at The Stables, on Marsh Farm in Startley.
