Police are hunting a gang who left a 33-year-old man in hospital after a Swindon town centre assault on Saturday.

The victim was approached by the gang of four or five men in Manchester Road at the junction with Gladstone Street at 5:30 pm.

At the time of the attack the victim was on route to meet up with a friend when he was set upon by the group.

During the attack, which lasted a couple of minutes, the victim was knocked to the floor. Nothing was said during the assault and the offenders then walked off in the direction of Swindon town centre.

The victim was able to get up and made his way home. He is currently in hospital receiving treatment for his injuries.

The men have been described as being white, early 20’s, wearing dark coloured jackets and baseball caps.

Swindon Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, to contact them on 0845 408 7000.
