Firefighters are this morning battling a blaze in the Chang Cottage restaurant in Devizes.

A chef discovered a fire in the extraction system this morning and tried to put it out using an extinguisher but the blaze was too fierce. Three fire engines from Devizes, Melksham and Calne were called just after 8.30am this morning. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are at Chan Cottage checking the roof where it is feared there may still be hot spots.

The next door office of the Wiltshire Community Foundation is also being ventilated. Staff have not been allowed inside.
